iGoogle : Retiring in few months

iGoogle, one of the pioneering products in the internet which provided people an customized and personalized view. igoogle was launched in 2005 before anyone could understand where the web development and app development will move towards. Looking back it tells you that how early google predicted and created an internet app for the people which gave them personalized touch.

iGoogle provided people the chance to have all their searches and pages at one place, one can even have an app of facebook and twitter on their home page.It was a very convenient way of surfing the web. People can have their local news and weather updates at their home page and most importantly all this this can be customized.

iGoogle is going to retire on November 1, 2013. Google has given users enough time and opportunity to retrieve their personal data or export their personal data. With the new technologies taking over and more people are shifting from desktop to mobiles for surfing, the use of the customized home page has been reduced.

Thanks and goodbye iGoogle.

PS - If you still want use it in its last days, do go to -www.igoogle.com or http://www.google.com/ig

GOOGLE+ : 3 new features

Google is working very hard to compete with other social networks specially with facebook. Now it has come up with new set of changes for google+.

Firstly they have changed how the home panel looked like, though they also have clean tabs but this time the tabs are looking more prominent, further it's a drop down menu which declutter the whole space. It gives the due space that was required in it.

Secondly they have improved the section of "photos", it has more sub sections in it, further it lets you visit the most prominent of your photos at one go. Though google is also saying it will provide a better quality for the images in this they would be direct competition with the facebook, where people are really comfortable in  sharing their pictures.

Another important change is with the google hangout, you can directly connect with hangout with a button at top right hand side. Now you can check which circles are enabled for hangout and change the settings as required. Though group chat facility was already present in it for long now.

Have great time hanging out.

Yahoo Mail : The Underdog

Yahoo was the first mail I used and still remember the silly Email ID I used to have in my young days. All of us will remember our childhood days when even having an email ID was a great thing, maybe kids nowadays could relate it to having a "i-phone", yes it was literally that big.

But they started the competition among peers as well as among the mailing sites. Suddenly there were many names floating together, gmail, hotmail, rediffmail etc. And people who thought they had a ID in a better site started bullying each other.

That bullying kept on going till we suddenly felt the need to use social network, the only one known to us was orkut as almost everyone was talking about it, so finally me and mnay of my friends made accounts in "Gmail" (It was a safer side).

So I had the experience of using two different type of mails which led me to wonder how it would be to use other mails as well. So I created ID's in almost every site they told me which provide facility of mails.

After all these research I still liked using my first e-mail ID. Though I still was told it wasn't as good. Even after years, in my professional life I met few wierd guys who told me it looks less professional if you are using a yahoo ID.  I didn't understand what more technical expertise they learnt in opening some other mail ID.

After all these I definitely have the answer for all those people, I think yahoo is most user friendly mail I have used,(people may have varied opinion),since most of the people who are talking about the mails haven't even used the mails properly. The sorting is better, the header is better, the settings are better and it provides you with extra id's which help in reducing the spam. Further there is a mental peace in using yahoo mail, I could keep it open and surf whatever site I may like without having a feeling that I'm tracked. This is not as much important a point as others but still important. Further with recent changes in yahoo, I think they are doing a great job. YAHOO !!!

Twitter : tool for politics and advertising

Twitter took the world by storm when it started. A micro blogging site which enhanced the reach of every individual and made available every news from every corner of the world to its subscribers. One of best things was people were able to get instant update on any topic which is happening around the world.

Twitter became like the group chat feature which people were aware of, the difference of the "group" was the whole world. Twitter though thought to be a mixture of the interfaces of blogging and social networking but later people understood it was neither of the two.

Twitter was in its own league, with every celebrity becoming a part of  it, it became more of popularity network. Now a celebrity's popularity is also measured by the twitter followers they have.

It was about time, the intelligent or rather witty people saw a great market in this and captured the whole system. Earlier people liked the witty jokes and sarcasm by the unknown profiles ("eggs") but then people understood the marketing behind it. Now every second person is either promoting a seo site, a internet marketing site or any e-commerce site.

News channels and their editors are busy promoting their news articles, their videos or their review. If you have ever subscribed to any of them you know how many breaking news a day you are bombarded with in your timeline.

The new breed in this promotion game are the politicians who have got a very easy way to get into the people lives and tamper with their thoughts. Political parties are having a team of people who are busy creating favorable trends for their political parties, which recently led to chaos in twitter.

So now when people are visiting twitter, they are like, Is there any real person here ? Is there anyone with unbiased opinion ? The sad state is most of the time the answer is negative. So keep "follow" and "unfollow" till you find the right people.
